Tory Lanez Is Attacked by Another Inmate in Prison

Canadian rapper Tory Laznez was hospitalized on Monday after being attacked in the California prison, where he is serving a 10-year sentence for shooting the Hip-Hop star Megan Thee Stallion, authorities said.

Mr. Lannez, 32, whose real name is Daytar Peterson, was attacked by another prisoner on Monday morning in a prison in Tehahapi, near Bakersfield, said the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation of California in a statement.

Mr. Lanez was transported to a medical center outside the prison, the department said. He did not provide more details about the condition of Mr. Lanez, but a statement published on his Instagram account on Monday night said he had stabbed his leg 14 times.

“His two lungs collapsed, and placed him in a breathing team,” the statement said. “It’s now breathing alone.” A representative of Mr. Lanez said Monday night that he had no updates beyond the statement.

In August 2023, a Los Angeles judge sentenced Mr. Lanez to 10 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of shooting Megan Tea Stallion on both feet after an argument three years earlier. It was convicted of three serious crimes, including the assault with a semihutomatic gun.

At the time of shooting, Megan Tea Stallion had been in a strong trajectory to stardom, thanks in large part to the great success collaborations with Beyoncé and Cardi B.

Last year, Megan Thee Stallion requested a rest training order against Mr. Lanez. In judicial presentations, his lawyers accused him of Wagen a “campaign of harassment” against her prison, even using bloggers to disseminate defamatory statements about her.

A judge granted a resting order against Mr. Laznez until 2030, said Associated Press.
