AUS Celebrates 794 Graduates at Spring 2025 Commencement

The American University of Sharjah (AUS) marked a proud moment in its academic calendar as it celebrated the graduation of 794 students during its Spring 2025 Commencement Ceremony, held on campus in a grand event attended by families, faculty, alumni, and dignitaries.

The ceremony, which took place at the university’s Main Auditorium, saw students from undergraduate and graduate programs across various disciplines don their caps and gowns to mark the culmination of their academic journey. The graduates represented the university’s diverse student body, with individuals from across the Middle East, Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas.

In his keynote address, AUS Chancellor Dr. Tod A. Laursen congratulated the Class of 2025, praising their resilience, adaptability, and academic excellence. “You have faced unprecedented global and personal challenges, and you’ve emerged stronger, wiser, and more capable,” he said. “You carry with you the values of AUS—integrity, excellence, and leadership—which will guide you in your future endeavors.”

The event also featured speeches from top-performing students, who reflected on their academic journeys and the supportive community at AUS. One such graduate, Fatima Al Hammadi from the College of Engineering, shared how the institution not only nurtured her technical knowledge but also instilled in her a strong sense of civic responsibility.

The graduates received degrees from the College of Architecture, Art and Design; College of Arts and Sciences; College of Engineering; and School of Business Administration. Several students were also recognized for exceptional academic achievements and contributions to student life and community service.

Parents and families, many of whom traveled from abroad, expressed pride and joy as they witnessed their loved ones take their next steps into professional and academic pursuits.

The ceremony concluded with the traditional cap toss, marking the end of one chapter and the beginning of another for the Class of 2025. AUS officials reaffirmed the university’s commitment to maintaining academic excellence and fostering innovation as it continues to shape the next generation of leaders and changemakers.
