Spoiler alert: this article contains spoilers to The series Kaos.
With the recent cancellation of the Netflix series KaosStarring Jeff Goldblum as Zeus, he led me to speculate on what this says about the movement within popular culture in general and our response to “these types of shows.” These types of programs in question are not the updates of Greek mythology, but those that include the size of the footwear of postmodern and almost nihilist perspectives on hierarchy and freedom.
He thought that the series itself will probably be proestable, its cancellation demonstrates a deeper point about human nature and our inherent desire for coherence in history.
The Series, which was meean to be a provocative and subversive Take on the traditional Greek myths (and not only scholause it tok pleace place in modern Times), followed to series of characters well-known to family family He reused, Tenalong and reused, Teusaldice, Teusaldice, and Dionysus (Besta Harbor ‘Teen Enough of Him commestily), Poseidon and Hades. The spectators are guided through all the labyrinthine stories by our narrator, Prometheus, while experiencing their punishment for stealing fire from the gods. The general history of season 1 (and now the whole series) was that the control of the gods was slipping, largely because humans were losing their faith in them.
I am Child of a Sucker for Any Greek Myth Retelling, and Maybe A Little Bit of A Sucker for Jeff Golblum’s Charisma, But I Suspended That Were Going To Be Sub Sub Unsavoroy Elements To This TV-AA RATED DRAma/Comedy, Among’s As Knows, Are ToSe As Know You are like Knows, are these Day’s As Knows, As Knows, As Knows, As Knows, As Knows, As Knows, As Knows, So Knows, As Knows, As Knows, So Knows As the stamps as the seal, they know how the seals, as they know how the stamps, so they know how the seals know how the stamps He knows, how he knows, how he knows, as he knows, how he knows, how he knows how the seal, so he knows how the seal, so he knows that the seal, he knows. Everything is very, Ahemchaotic). Despite this, I thought it would be fun to see a unique version of traditional myths, as special, since I am not emotionally belonging to any of these characters. It is not as if someone is portraying a lustful Jesus, a joan or arc or anti -e -arc or Sacárine Therese or Lisieux, to name some totally non -hypothetical examples.
As the series begins, it could be assumed that Prometheus will play nothing more than the role of a friendly and tragic narrator. The series directly follows the actions of human characters, namely Orpheus, Eurydice, Ariadne and Caenaus. However, it is later revealed that they are involuntary pawns in the long Prometheus struggle to usurp the power of the gods, namely Zeus. It is in the final of the season that all the pieces join and “kaos” finally reigns for gods and men equally.
I hope that the lack of interest in this program is evidence that the public is recognizing the emptiness of chaos, or a real he-The human society formed.
I thought that the series is likely to be largely forgettable (anyway it would have worked better as a unique miniseries), its canelation demonstrates a deeper point about human nature and our inherent desire for coherence in history. Humans, because we are trained in the image of which forms everything, naturally want to participate in form. We can help you. In fact, even defining the word “chaos” as its own existing thing is to work real against the lack of the chaos. How do you know if something is chaotic unless there is a clear definition of what chaos is, unless chaos forms?
However, we can fight this form. In fact, we do it all the time. Is called sin and literally he-formed. This is not just a pejorative demolish another person. It is what sin, understood as private by St. Augustine (City of God, Book XI.9) and St. Thomas Aquinas (St I-II. Q 75. A 1) is. One learns in philosophy 101 that Aristotle presented us with the four causes of being. Very simply, these include: the material Because, the “things” of the substance in question; he formal Cause, the “form” of the substance; he efficiently cause, the “agent” behind the substance; and the end Cause, the “purpose” of the substance. The first three causes, the material, formal and efficient, are destined to work together to serve the final cause. That is why a hammer is made of iron and not gold: it must hit other hard things, such as iron nails, and maintain its shape.
Sin, because it is an intentional frustrated of the final cause of an action (the substance in this case), will necessarily undermine the form and vice versa. It is an action that is beginning to lose its form. In KaosWe see the obliteration of the form in the political and theological senses. Yes, odo that the political and theological “forms” of the government were corrupt, but no way, what we have in the final season (series), is little better.
When we are expected to invest in the storytelling whose base is unit-Formation, it seems that we ignore it to a large extent, with a good cause.
This disintegration is indicative of a broader tendency that has been happening in the media but is exemplified in Kaos In addition, that it is an unusual flattening to only another form of the material. There is not a principle of order superior to reality; Reality depends completely on us. From this point of view, only the Lord of God are atheists. In the program, the involvement is that the existence of the gods depends on us. We learn in the middle of the series that the gods are fed by the souls that enter “the frame” found in the underworld. A soul, whom we had previously in the series, is a pious, auto-marher who represents all the unfortunate religious of a simple mind that fear the gods. While there is a core of truth in the idea that humanity instance or even embodies the thesis spiritual powers through our actions, the real spiritual world precedes us and our recognition of it.
I hope that the lack of interest in this show, which did not have a shortage of the typical “mature audience rate”, is evidence that the public recognizes the emptiness of chaos, or a real he-The human society formed. When we support the good, and just when we try re-Prometheus form in a comprehensive hero, it is not because of its chaotic social destruction, but because it brought fire, technicalor train the wild world in front of him. Once again, ironic, it was its intricate well -formed plan that was many years in the creation, established and executed patiently, which caused its chaos, even at the expense of its supposed love.
The best more prophetic narration is what is prognosis: you can tell us that we are going, in large part because it is diagnosis, tells us where and who we are. While many entertainment writers would quickly agree that Kaos It is a very diagnostic allegory or where we are now as a culture, largely strange the transcendent reality of the human nature that we are formed and formedERSimitating the one who formed us. When we are expected to invest in the storytelling whose base is unit-Formation, it seems that we ignore it to a large extent, with a good cause.
