AUS and Amazon Web Services collaborate to advance cloud-enabled research

● The new collaboration will improve research infrastructure, cloud innovation and digital experience at the university

● The agreement enters AWS’s immersive training, expert support and a new cloud excellence center

● The collaboration is aligned with the AB Digital Transformation strategy and the commitment to research, innovation and academic excellence

Sharjah, Eau, May 1, 2025 – The American University of Sharjah (AB) is collaborating with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to transform the University’s research environment and accelerate the adoption of advanced cloud technologies throughout the university. Through this collaboration, AWS will provide AB technical support, infrastructure and strategic support, which allows university to strengthen its digital base and expand cloud fluidity throughout its community.

Dr. Tod Laurssen, Aus’s Chancellor, commented on the importance of the agreement: “This end positions Aus at the forefront of research and academic innovation operated in the cloud. Strategic investment in our academic mission, institutional capacity and regional impact.”

In parallel, the agreement establishes a center of excellence in the cloud in Aus. This center will lead efforts to promote the adoption of the cloud, develop government frameworks and guide digital transformation initiatives throughout the university. Through specific activities, including training programs, best practices frames and knowledge exchange platforms: the center will help expand AWS’s internal experience and align cloud initiatives with the long -term strategic objectives of the university.

AWS will also provide Aus access to its technical experts and solution architects, sacrificing support to help design and optimize cloud environments that meet the academic and research needs of the university. Collaboration includes AWS immersion days focused on AWS solutions related to the improvement of research workflow, data analysis, cost optimization and cloud safety.

AWS certified speakers will get further involved with AUS through participation in research events in the campus. These events will highlight case studies, best practices and explore the practical application of cloud technologies in research, helping Aus academics connect innovation with the impact of the real world.
