AUS recognizes extracurricular achievements at Annual Student Appreciation Awards 

More than 650 students recognize their outstanding participation between leadership, athletics, will and cultural activities

Sharjah, Eau, May 2, 2025 – The American University of Sharjah (AUS) celebrated the pending achievements of its students in the annual student appreciation of 2025, held in the presence of its excellence Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan al Qasimi, president of Aus.

Duration The ceremony, forty -nine awards, were the axes, which comprise 21 individual awards and 28 groups recognized by excellence in leadership, athletics, will and community residential participation. The event was attended by more than 650 AB students, recognized for their contributions to extracurricular activities during the year.

Participating in extracurricular programs is an essential part of the experience of Aus students, with more than 124 student clubs, about 30 sports teams and numerous community service opportunities open to students.

The ceremony began with welcome comments of the students’ hosts. Then, the guests saw a video presentation that highlighted the main initiatives and events organized by the Student Experience Office in the academic year. The speeches were pronounced by Dr. Tod Alan Laursen, Aus’s Chancellor, and former Aus Mahmoud Gaith student, followed by a video that highlights the global Aus 2025 day.

Shaima Bin Taliah, Vice Chancellor for the students’ experience, congratulated the winners of the award: “In Aus, we believe that the real achievement is not only on the personal surface but also for the ability to raise and inspire the demonstrated Uship and the dedication to their community.

The ceremony continued with the presentation of awards in several categories, including individual achievements, group recognition, global day prizes and honors of the student council. The cultural dance performances of the Jordanian, Indian, Sri Lanka, Palestinian, Pakistani and Syrians cultural clubs brought the celebration to a close vibrant, which shows how cultural exchange enriches the aus experience for students.

Reflecting on Journey, Sanjana Bharwani, management student and receiver of the most prominent student leadership award, shared his experience of leadership growth and development in Aus, assuming roles with the Indian cultural club, like a peergatstegats York.

“Beyond the results, what has cared me most is to train the ethers to see their potential. The leadership, for me, it is about inspiring and supporting those around it to reach the heights they never imagined. These extracurricular achievements are aligned with the national priorities of the EAU to develop graduates ready for the future with academic excellence and practical skills.
