
Royal Roads University Celebrates Grand Opening of its First MENA Campus in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE

Ras al Khaimah, Eau – Royal Roads University (RRU), a leading Canadian public university, celebrated the official inauguration of its first international branch campus in Ras al Khaimah, EAU, on April 28, 2025. Fencame Bercame Bercame – Bercame – Inpame North Africa (Mena), expanding access to postsecundaria canadic education of the world.
The opening ceremony was attended by estimated dignitaries, including its excellence Dr. Abdullah Belhaif al Nuaimi, president of the Sharjah Advisory Council and former Minister of the EAU, and Mr. Tracy Reynolds, Consult General of Canada to the EAU, surrounded Dr. Philip Steenkamp, president and vice-chancer of the Royal Roads University, Dr. William Holmes, professor at the Leadership School of Leadership of the Leadership School of the Leadership School of the Leadership School Vinit Rughani, Director of Big Education Group, Mr. Nirmal Shah, Director of the Big Education Group, President and CEO of Dr. Alastair Summerlee, Education Group of Ottawa and Mr. Harry Sharma, President and Operations Director, the Ottawa education group.
The event began with the national hymns of the EAU and Canada, symbolizing the strong bilateral ties and the collaborative spirit behind this initiative. Dr. Philip Steenkamp, Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Mr. Tracy Reynolds, Dr. William Holmes, Dr. Alastair Summerlee and Mr. Vinit Rughani presented a symbolic plaque to formally mark the opening of the campus.
In his speech, Dr. Philip Steenkamp highlighted RRU’s commitment to applied learning and his vision to develop future leaders through his unique learning, teaching and research model. His excellence Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi spoke about the meaning of the EU educational panorama, and Mr. Tracy Reynolds emphasized the importance of Canadian transnational education. The ceremony also included a speech by Mr. Hussein al Shamaa, director of licenses and compliance, knowledge department of Ras al Khaimah, underlining his vision and support extended to RRU.
The highlight of the event was a student direction of Mrs. Hermela Alemu Tolcha, an inaugural student of Ethiopia enrolled in one of the degree programs of Rru Rak, who shared her aspirations to study on the new campus.
The program also presented a insightful chat next to the fire entitled, ‘Building future leaders, the vision of Rru-Rak’, moderated by Mr. Lameen Abdul-Malik, a winner of the Nobel Peace Prize (2005), with Dr. Philip Steenkamp. The discussion explored strategies to develop leaders in the context of the region.
The ceremony concluded with final comments of Dr. Maurey Bond, dean of the RAK Campus of the Royal Roads University, recognizing all attendees and partners. This was followed by a network lunch reception, which gave the guests the opportunity for greater commitment.
The Campus of the Royal Roads Ras University to Khaimah will offer a range of applied programs, postgraduate and undergraduate professionals adapted to the evolutionary needs of students and industries in the EAU and the broader Mena region. These include their titles by Prime Minister MBA and BBA, now average locally to offer Canadian commercial excellence.
