Oscar Piastri comfortably directed the only practice session for the Miami Grand Prix after a late red flag for an accident involving Oliver Bearman truncated.
Bearman’s Haas was already threatening to break his control through curve 11 pressed before taking freely completing while climbing power for the long right -hand tour. and causing a red flag with less than five minutes on the five -minute flag on the clock, from the clock.
Time worked well for Piastri, who had just completed his only soft tire return to rocket to the top of the order. The leader of the McLaren championship registered a better turn of 1m27.128s, placing 0.356s away from Charles Leclerc de Ferrari as the second most scars.
Max Verstappen, after having arrived late at the weekend after the birth of his first daughter, completed the first three after some suspension settings halfway, the driver of Red Bull Racing 0.43s outside the rhythm.
But Bearman’s unemployment was frustrating for Piastri teammate, Lando Norris, who was only two thirds on the road when the red flags flew.
Norris, winner in Miami for the first time last season, was 0.345s in Piaastri at the end of the first sector, but a second purple sector took him to 0.172 when he had to leave time, leaving him in the order.
In addition, frustrating for the team is an investigation after the session about freeing Norris with a car in an insecure condition, since it seemed to have left a flashlight in its cabin at the beginning of the practice hour.
Without the British in the mixture, the teammates of Williams, Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon, were able to finish the fourth and fifth session, 0.55Sy 0.827 of the rhythm respectively and ahead of the races of Isack Bullther 0.013sa drifts.
George Russell was seventh despite being caught by the red flag, since he has not yet changed to the soft complex while embarked on a long seasonal simulation of 17 laps that gave the second half of the session.
The same asked his teammate, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who was ninth in the order without running in Softs, the Mercedes pair interspersed Yuki Tsunoda in eighth.
Fernando Alonso completed the Top 10 in an Aston Martin of loose appearance ahead of Liam Lawson and the Norris out of position.
Lewis Hamilton was in his return on soft tires when the red flag finished his early session, leaving him 13 ahead of the teammates Sauber, Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto. The starry bearman was 16th ahead of Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon and Jack Doohan, none of which completed his soft laps before the red flag.
Ocon was summoned to an audience of the administrators after the session to block Norris at the beginning of the session, since he had been wandering in the racing line in the final fork that both drivers deviated towards the interior to avoid us.
Lance Stroll completed the order more than 1.1s slower than teammate Alonso despite completing his career in soft tires.
