The Dallas Cowboys limited the Jets, 30-10, on Sunday afternoon, New York reminders, as if reminders were needed, or what the rest of their season may seem without the field marshal Aaron Rodgers.
Rodgers lasted only three official plays at the opening of the Jets season last week before the Achilles tendon broke. The Jets (1-1) managed to achieve a 22-16 victory in extra time against the Buffalo Bills thanks to their tremendous defense and a race game.
The defense of the jets also did its share on Sunday, stopping the cowboys (2-0) several times in the red zone and forcing Dallas to settle for field goals in five units. But the Cowboys Campo Marshal, Roof Prescott, went down the defense with short passes to neutralize the talented defensive backs of the jets. It connected with the open receptor Ceedee Lamb 11 times for 143 yards. The Tony Pollard Caht corridor another seven passes for 37 yards and ran for 72 yards in 25 haules.
In total, Prescott completed 31 or 38 attempts for 255 yards and two touchdowns, launched to the winged wing Jake Ferguson and Luke Schoonmaker.
The Cowboys had the ball for more than 42 minutes, ran 83 plays and turned 9 or 18 third attempt opportunities, leaving the small possibilities of the jet offensive to get going.
“Defensively, we could only get out of the field,” said Jet’s coach Robert Saleh. “You can’t put anything if you don’t have so much the ball.”
The replacement of Rodgers, Zach Wilson, the second general selection in the 2021 draft, resumed where he left it last season. Under pressure the entire game of the fearsome four Dallas strikers, Wilson was fired three times and threw three interceptions of the fourth quarter, since the jets tried to eliminate a score deficit. Wilson finished with 170 yards in 12 or 27 Fit, leading the team with 36 yards per land. He was harassed during the night by the supporter of the cowboys, Micah Parsons, who had four quarters of Quarterback, including two catches.
Wilson’s few brilliant moments arrived early and with the help of their teammates. Dallas took an early advantage in the Touchdown pass of the first quarter of Prescott to Ferguson, adding 3 points in the field goal of 35 yards of Brandon Aubrey. In the middle of the second quarter, Wilson opened a trip from the 32 -yard line of the jets when finding Garrett Wilson, the offensive rookie of the year 2022, in a game action pass. The receiver was released from a Tackle and ran 68 yards in the annotation zone to reduce the score to 10-7.
Dallas continued with an impulse of his own annotation, scoring a 75 -yard series with a 1 yard tauchdown strike to clean.
With 12 seconds, removing before part time and the jets took to the 16 -yard line of the cowboys, Zach Wilson almost launched a second TouchDown pass to Garrett Wilson, which was open in the score zone, but the ball was inaugurated by a Dallas. The jets were formed with a field goal to make the score 18-10.
“It was very frustrating,” said Zach Wilson. “I was going to tear it in the front pylon.”
Finally, the Cowboys returned to the formula that helped them fly to the giants, 40-0, last week in New Jersey. Prescott got rid of the ball quickly and Pollard, who became the best team corridor last season, prevented the jets from locking themselves in the pass race.
Parsons also scratched the Dalvin Cook corridor of the ball in the second path of the third quarter jets, short-circuing his attempt to close a scoring gap that had shot at 21-10.
Playing from behind and under pressure, Zach Wilson launched interceptions about the last three possessions of the jets. The first one, at the beginning of the last quarter, was chosen by the safety of the cowboys, Jayron Kerse, who returned the 32 yards ball to the 17 yardas line of the jets. The cowboys added a field goal to boost their advantage to 30-10.
The two final interceptions were trapped after the jets approached the center of the field and the high school of Dallas leaned into Wilson’s releases. The confrontation, as a large part of the Jets calendar before Rodgers’ injury, had been an interesting measurement stick for a team with new postseason hopes.
Saleh said he did not believe that Sunday’s loss was the beginning of a long slide for the jets, who have games at home against the New England patriots of the division and the Kansas City bosses in the coming weeks.
“He won the snowball, he doesn’t go to the snowball,” he said. “That is a really good football team. They play as well as I feel that you could.”
Unfortunately for jet fans and television networks, the jets, who were excited about the duration of “Hard Knocks” of HBO summer, can continue to fight while looking for an offensive formula that works without Rodgers, the Hall of Fame of them Qualback.
