RayNeo has unveiled its latest smart glasses, the Air 3s, promising to revolutionise the wearable display market with significant upgrades in both visual and audio performance. Priced at $259, these glasses are set to launch in April 2025, offering consumers an affordable yet advanced option for immersive viewing experiences.
Building upon the foundation of its predecessor, the Air 2s, the Air 3s introduces RayNeo’s HueView screen technology. This innovation features a micro-OLED screen with a tandem OLED structure, delivering vivid, true-to-life colours and deep blacks. The company asserts that the Air 3s meets IMAX Enhanced criteria, boasting 145% sRGB and 98% DCI-P3 colour accuracy, along with a contrast ratio of 200,000:1. Such specifications suggest a visual experience that closely mirrors reality, enhancing both entertainment and productivity applications.
In terms of brightness, the Air 3s achieves a peak of 650 nits, a slight increase from the Air 2s’ 600 nits. This enhancement ensures clearer visibility even in challenging lighting conditions. Additionally, the glasses incorporate OptiCare, a 3,840Hz DC+PWM dimming system designed to minimise flickering and unstable colours, thereby reducing eye strain during extended use. The Air 3s has also received TÜV SÜD Blue Light Protection Certification, indicating reduced exposure to harmful blue light.
Comfort has been a focal point in the design of the Air 3s. Weighing 76 grams, they are 2 grams lighter than their predecessors. The weight distribution is meticulously balanced, with 46.6% at the front and 53.3% at the back, reducing pressure on the nose and ears. The glasses also feature 15% less clamping force compared to previous models and offer a larger eye box to accommodate a wider range of pupillary distances. A nine-point FlexiFit adjustment system allows the glasses to conform to various face shapes, enhancing overall comfort.
Audio performance has seen a notable upgrade in the Air 3s. RayNeo has introduced a “Dual Opposing Acoustic Chamber Design,” integrating two speakers on each side to create a richer, more symphonic sound experience. This design aims to deliver crisper highs, detailed mids, and deeper bass, addressing the audio limitations observed in the Air 2s. To reduce sound leakage, the glasses utilise Whisper Mode 2.0 technology, ensuring a more private listening experience.
The Air 3s function as wearable displays compatible with devices such as smartphones, tablets, consoles, and RayNeo’s accessories like the Pocket TV. They project a virtual screen equivalent to a 201-inch display viewed from six metres away, offering users a private cinematic experience. The glasses support both 2D and 3D modes, with resolutions of 1,920 x 1,080 and 3,840 x 1,080 respectively, and refresh rates ranging from 60Hz to 120Hz. Connectivity is facilitated through a USB-C cable, and while they do not support wireless connections or Bluetooth, users can pair their own Bluetooth headsets directly with their devices.
RayNeo’s announcement of the Air 3s at the Mobile World Congress 2025 also included a preview of upcoming models, such as the AI-based RayNeo X3 Pro and the camera-equipped RayNeo V3. These developments underscore the company’s commitment to making extended reality experiences more accessible to a broader audience by harmonising technology, user-friendliness, and affordability.
The Air 3s’ competitive pricing positions them favourably against other smart glasses in the market, potentially attracting consumers who have been hesitant due to cost barriers. With the enhancements in display quality, audio performance, and ergonomic design, RayNeo aims to set new standards in the XR glasses category, offering an immersive experience without compromising on comfort or affordability.
As the April 2025 release date approaches, anticipation builds around the Air 3s’ potential to redefine personal entertainment and information consumption. Consumers and industry experts alike await the opportunity to evaluate how these advancements translate into everyday use and whether the Air 3s can deliver on the promise of an immersive, comfortable, and affordable wearable display experience.
