Jeddah: fans around the world enjoyed the first day of the weekend of the Grand Prix of Saudi Arabia of the F1 on Friday in the Jeddah Corniche circuit fan area.

The site, next to the raprack, sacrificed a variety of experiences, including interactive simulators F1, SIM races, a stoppage in boxes, an F1 exhibition car, selfies of drivers in augmented reality and a virtual tour of boxes, all designed to bring fans closer to the sport.

There were also food trucks, live music, avant -garde driving simulators, virtual racing games and several F1 cars for photo opportunities.

Many fans who talked to Arab News said they had traveled from places like Riad, Dammam, Hail, Taif, Madina and Jizan to experience the career in Jeddah.

“It is an incredible event and, as a family, we are really enjoying everything. I really hoped to see a career car closely, and that’s what formula 1 is about,” said local Saudi businessman Fahad al-Malki.

He added: “It is an incredible experience from the moment you start arriving on the road. It is very organized. I love the way they are so cooperative while entering, people are smiling and everyone welcomes you, I enjoy this. The family is my family and my family. Together and are enjoying an incredible experience.”

Meanwhile, Jimmy de Glasgow, Scotland, described the weekend of Formula 1 as “incredible.”

“This is the first time to attend F1’s career and I am slippery to see it here in Jeddah,” he said. “Besighes seeing the (races) I also had the opportunity to explore the fan area. It is incredible and the food court is fantastic. Simply, my friend and I are having fun and enjoying everything here.”

Laisly, from the Philippines, said: “I am very surprised. I really wanted to see a racing car from close, it is really an interesting event. I am really excited to see the race and in the fan of fans.”

She added: “For us as a Filipinos who work here in Saudi Arabia, it is really one of a child and, with luck, children or thesis events continued and recently there are many opportunities to see a career like this.”
