7 Killed in Crash Involving a Tour Van and a Pickup Near Yellowstone

A truck and a passenger to wear a tour group collided in Idaho near the Yellowstone National Park on Thursday night, killing seven people, the Idaho state police said. Both vehicles caught fire after the accident.

Six of those killed were in the truck, a Mercedes, who had 14 people, said the state police. The truck driver, a Dodge Ram, was also killed.

The accident occurred just before 7:15 pm on the US 20 Highway. The cause was under investigation.

The State Police said the authorities had summoned an air ambulance and other air and land resources to respond to the accident due to the seriousness of the injuries.

Fremont County Forensa, Brenda Dye, identified the driver and the only occupant of the truck as Isaiah Moreno, 25, or Texas. Mrs. Dye said she was waiting for the results of DNA tests to identify the six people in which they were killed, because the bodies were unrecognizable.

The six were from outside the United States, Dye said in an interview on Friday. Two were from Italy, he said, and it wasn’t clear where the other four were. They had part of a leg of a group that was touring Yellowstone, he said.

The Chinese state media, citing the Chinese consulate in San Francisco, said that Chinese citizens were among the dead. Five Chinese peoples died and eight more were injured in the collision, the Xinhua news agency reported. It was not clear immediately why there seemed to be a discrepancy with EM. Dye number.

The Consulate has asked the US authorities to share the results of the investigation into the accident and provide assistance to the members of the family of the dead, Xinhua reported.

After the accident, two others on the road jumped from their vehicle to help, he said. They were “trying to get the most they could”, from the truck, which was broadcasting smoke, Dye said. She said they successfully helped eight people out of the truck, including a child, before Van Caht’s fire.

The US 20 Highway was closed for almost seven hours, while the emergency responds and the Idaho Department of Transportation worked to manage the scene and clear the road, said the state police.
