UAE’s Asteroid Belt Mission Reaches Key Milestone with Critical Design Review Completion

The Emirates Mission to the Asteroid Belt (EMA) You have completed the Critical Design Review (CDR), so that an important step is marked for deep space exploration.

Held from 24 to 26 February 2025, the Empirati assessment and international experts were involved, where the willingness of the mission for the next phase assembly, integration and testing of the Mohammed bin Rashid (MBR) explorer Validated.

Salem Butti Salem al Qubbaisi, director-general of the VAE Space Agency, Emphasized that this milestone reflects the vision of the VAE to transform ambition into reality. He emphasized the role of the mission in promoting scientific innovation, strengthening deep space exploration possibilities and promoting the growth of technology, education and economy.

The CDR included an extensive assessment of the design, the engineering, production and risk reduction of the spacecraft of the spacecraft, making the coordination to explore the standards of the international space. Mohsen Al Awadhi, EMA Mission Director, Underlines the support of the review of the review that minimizing risks and securing broad participation in the private sector.

Stretched 13 years, EMA SEME designs for the development of spacecraft and seven Yars to asteroid exploration between Mars and Jupiter. The MBR Explorer will analyze the origin of water-rich asteroids, assess their potential resources and study their surface and internal structures. A lander on board the spacecraft is set to touch Justitia, which promotes scientific discovery.

The VAE Space Agency cooperates with valued institutions, including Khalifa University, NYU Abu Dhabi, the Italian space agency and the University of Colorado Boulder. With strong international partnerships and rigorous planning, EMA continues to propel the spacecraft babies of the VAE into groundbreaking discoveries in deep space.
