A suspected juvenile sperm whale washed along shore at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina

Hilton Head Island, SC – A sperm has been sacrificed after placing ITELF on the coast of South Carolina over the weekend.

The whale, which was believed to be a minor, caught the attention after he was seen on a beach in Hilton Head Island. According to the city leaders, NOAA officials and marine mammal experts rushed to help comfort the whale while people put rescue efforts.

Government officials said that the whale was severely emaciated and that it had probably drifting in the sea for hundreds of miles before reaching the shore.

The whale was sedated and sacrificed on Sunday night using specialized Florida teams. The procedure was carried out by a veterinarian from the University of Florida.
