UAE weather: Red, yellow alerts issued for fog; motorists urged to exercise caution due to low visibility

UAE residents woke up on Saturday to a thick blanket of fog that covered vast areas and reduced visibility on the roads, with motorists urged to exercise caution.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) shared the following map that shows areas affected by foggy conditions:

Abu Dhabi Police took to X to call on motorists to exerise caution due to reduced visibility during the fog, saying they are urged to follow changing speed limits displayed on electronic information boards.

Overall, resident may experience some chilly conditions today, especially at nights, but there is the possibility of temperatures likely to increase.

Conditions will get humid by night and on Sunday morning with a probability of fog or mist formation over some coastal and western internal areas.

There will be light to moderate northwesterly to Northeasterly winds, and freshening at times causing blowing dust, with a speed of 10kmph and 25kmph, reaching 40kmph.

The sea will be slight in the Arabian Gulf and in Oman Sea.

Temperatures in Abu Dhabi will reach up to 30°C with a low of 19°C, while Dubai will be identical to Abu Dhabi at 30°C and a low of 18°C.

Sharjah will witness a high of 30°C and a low 18°C.
