- May 28, 2025
As President Trump blurs the lines between politics and business, and threatens the tariffs pronounced in the commercial partners that government are forced to favor Trump -related projects. Damien Cave, head of the Vietnam office for the New York Times, and Katrin Bennhold, a senior writer on the international desktop, discuss how this dynamic has developed in Vietnam, in innovating a Trump golf complex of $ 1.5 billion $ 1.5 billion.
The Trump Organization has embarked on its most ambitious project in Southeast Asia with the groundbreaking of Trump International Hung Yen, a $1.5 billion luxury golf and residential complex in northern Vietnam. Situated along the Red River in Hung Yen province, just outside Hanoi, the development spans nearly 990 hectares (2,446 acres) and is poised to become a landmark destination in the region.
Project Overview
Trump International Hung Yen will feature:
- Three 18-hole championship golf courses, with design contributions from golf professional Bryson DeChambeau.
- A five-star hotel, luxury villas, and a modern urban area accommodating up to 35,000 residents.
- Eco-tourism zones and international-standard amenities.
The project is a collaboration between the Trump Organization and Hung Yen Hospitality, a subsidiary of Vietnam’s Kinh Bac City Development Holding Corporation. Construction is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2029.
Strategic Significance
The development coincides with ongoing U.S.-Vietnam trade negotiations, as Vietnam seeks to avoid proposed U.S. tariffs of up to 46% on its exports. Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the project’s role in strengthening bilateral relations and boosting investor confidence.
Eric Trump, Executive Vice President of the Trump Organization, highlighted Vietnam’s dynamic market and expressed commitment to the region, stating that the project would be “the envy of all of Asia and of the entire world.”
Future Prospects
In addition to the Hung Yen project, the Trump Organization is exploring plans for a skyscraper in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s southern business hub. Eric Trump is scheduled to meet with city officials to discuss the potential development, signaling the organization’s broader interest in expanding its footprint in Vietnam.
As Vietnam continues to attract foreign investment and develop its tourism infrastructure, the Trump Organization’s ventures are poised to play a significant role in shaping the country’s luxury real estate and hospitality sectors.
