Alpine evaluating replacing Doohan with Colapinto for Imola

Alpine is weighing whether to replace Jack Doohan with Franco Colapinto before the next race at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

Doohan’s seat has been under constant scrutiny since an early race was promoted at the Abu Dhabi seasonal season grand prize last year. The Australian rookie had been announced as an alpine race pilot in August, but the appearance of collapth in the driver market, which brings a curriculum of strong performances for Williams throughout a significant interest in Argentina, made it a candidate race.

Alpine moved to sign Colapinto in Williams loan about winter, that Williams team director James Vowles confirmed that he was due to the exhibition that the 21 -year -old would be promoted to a race seat at some point.

According to Racer sources, the team is now determining whether that moment will be advanced at the beginning of the European season in Icola in two weeks.

If Colapinto seizes Doohan’s seat, the change occurred after only seven races for Doohan, six this season, the door has shown an encouraging rhythm, but had strong accidents in the opening of opening.

Doohan expressed his frustration in the team after being eliminated in SQ1 in Miami on Friday, and despite the fact that the superusal teammate Pierre Gasly for the first time on Saturday, his career ended after a first right of collision in the corner.

Alpine is currently ninth in the Constructors Championship at seven points, all scored by Pierre Gasly. Doohan is still one of the four pilots, along with Fernando Alonso, Lawson and Gabriel Bortoleto, who have not yet scored this season. Last year, Colapinto scored five points in nine openings for Williams.
