Alpine has confirmed that Franco Colapinto will replace Jack Doohan for at least the next five Formula 1 races, starting from the next round at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

The Argentine pilot was signed as a reservation option by Alpine during the winter, with the director of the Williams team, James Vowles, stating that it was effective on loan with the expectation that it would compete in some internship. After only six races from the 2025 season, the rookie Doohan has been degraded to the reserve role, and Colapinto associated with Pierre Gasly from Imala Onrks before the team says that it will carry out a new driver evaluation in July.

“Having reviewed the opening races of the season, we have made the decision to put Franco in the car with Pierre for the next five races,” said executive director Flavio Briatore. “Since the field is so closely matched this year, and with a competitive car, that the team has improved dramatically in the last 12 months, we are in a position in which we see the need to rotate our alignment. Drivers this season are right to maximize our ambitions next year.

“We continually support Jack on the team, since he has acted in a very professional way in his role as racing pilot so far this season. The next five races will give us the opportunity to try something different and after this period of time.”

Doohan failed to score a point in its seven openings to make Alpine its debut in the Grand Prix of the Abu Dhabi season last year, but Gasly, but Gasly for the first time the last time in Miami. Gasly has scored points in a Grand Prix and a Sprint, with the total of seven Alpine points leaving it ninth in the Construction Championship.

The five -run spell described by the team guarantees Colapint in the race seat until before the British Grand Prix in July, a song where he made his FP1 debut for Williams a year ago and the second race on consecutive weekends also including also including.

“First of all, I want to thank the team for giving me the opportunity to drive competitively for the next five races,” said Colapinto. “I will work hard with the team to prepare for the next race in Icola and the next triple enemy, which will undoubtedly be intense and a great challenge for all.

“I have kept sharp, and I am ready with the team’s racing support test program, as well as in the Estone Simulator. I will do my best to put me at speed quickly and I will give everything to offer the best possible result together with Pierre.”

The confirmation of the driver change occurs only one day after the announcement of a shock that the director of the OLIVER OAKES team resigned with an immediate effect, with the executive advisor Flavio Briatore assuming the responsibilities of Oakes.
