Fry, Greece – A strong earthquake shook the waters just next to Crete’s Greek island on Tuesday night, with tremors throughout the region in the middle of the night.

The earthquake of magnitude 6.1 hit just before 2 o’clock at local time on Wednesday (7 PM et Tesday) and focused only 10 miles south of Fry, Greece and about 70 miles east of agios Nikólaos in Crete, according to the geological vigil of the United States.

The earthquake was deep, measured at almost 50 miles below the surface of the earth.

There are still no initial reports of damage or injury.

The earthquake comes a few months after the Greek islands endured a week of shaking a mysterious swarm of earthquakes caused hundreds of earthquakes in the popular tourist place of Santorini, sending thousands to evacuate.
