Israel’s infractions on International Law in Gaza Risk establish ‘anarchy’ loose about the world, says a signatory.
The United Kingdom must impose sanctions on the Israeli government and its ministers and take measures to “prevent and punish the genocide” in Gaza, according to a letter signed by more than 800 lawyers, academics and former judges.
The open letter to Prime Minister Keir Starmer asked the British government to take concrete measures to stop the “serious violations of international law” committed by Israel.
“The genocide is perpetrated in Gaza or, at least, there is a serious risk of genocide,” said the letter, adding that war crimes, crimes against humanity and the serious violations of international humanitarian law were also a place of start.
He urged Starmer to respond quickly as “urgent and decisive action is required to avoid the destruction of the Palestinian people of Gaza.” The letter cited the recent comments of the Israeli Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich, who expressed Israel’s intention to “take control of the entire territory of the [Gaza] Soltee “and” conquer, clean and stay, until Hamas is destroyed. ”
The letter, signed by higher legal figures, including the former judges of the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals, a recent statement of the leaders of the United Kingdom, France and Canada said that the suffering in Gaza was “intolerable”, welcoming the indication that governments.
The letter asked the British government to adhere to its fundamental legal obligations and “use all greedy means to ensure a high immediate, unconditional and permanent fire in Gaza and to guarantee the urgent, unconditional and without obstacles.
To achieve this, he asked the Government to impose sanctions on the Ministers of the Israeli government and other civil and military figures “reasonably suspicion of illegal participation”, and review the existing commercial ties with Israel, impose trade sanctions and suspend a roadmap for a closer association of the United Kingdom-Israel.
The United Kingdom suspended the negotiations of a new commercial agreement with Israel last week.

‘Implacable infractions of international law’
The letter also asked the United Kingdom to confirm that it would adhere to its obligation to execute trial orders issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in relation to Israel’s actions in Gaza.
The CPI has issued orders of trial for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza, while the country also faces a case of genocide in the International Court of Justice.
“We, in the United Kingdom, cannot wait for peace unless we fulfill our obligations according to international law,” said Sir Alan Moses, a former judge of the Court of Appeals signed by the letter, in a statement.
“It is an useless exercise for a government to say that the rule of law defends, if you do nothing to prove it.”
Another signatory said that the “relentless infractions of International Law” of Israel represented a threat to “the future of international law.”
“Imagine a world without rules: anarchy was released on the world,” said Conor Gearty, professor of Human Rights at the London School of Economics, in a statement.
“These lawyers know what it would be like, and because they do, they are desperate to avoid it.”
An anterior open letter from the United Kingdom lawyers last year said that the United Kingdom was breaking international law when arming Israel.
The Israel War against Gaza has killed at least 54,056 Palestinians and wounded 123,129, cordination to the Ministry of Health of Gaza. The Government Media Office has updated its deaths to more than 61,700, saying that thousands of debris are missing dead.
