Distinguished academic excellence

Since its establishment in 2004, Cuhk’s law has become a truly international faculty, with academic staff of approximately 20 jurisdictions. Excellence in the investigation of the Faculty has been constantly recognized, leading the mastery of Hong’s Law in the 2014 and 2020 UGC research evaluation exercises. Its global position was even more consolidated at the last World University of QS 2025, A.Th Position worldwide.

Innovative programs portfolio

The Faculty sacrifices an integral range of postgraduate programs, including the degrees of Master of Specialized Laws (LLM) that respond to evolving global legal challenges. The LLM in energy and environmental law (LEL), was launched in 2018-2019, is erected as the pioneer program of Hong Kong in Energy Safety and Sustainability Law. The new incorporation, LLM in Legal History (LLH), introduced in 2022-2023, representatives as one of the few world programs dedicated to the investigation of transnational legal history.

Impact of global research and collaboration

The faculty’s commitment to excellence in research is exemplified through its specialized research centers. The Center for Comparative and Transnational Law (CCTL) supports collaborative research through eight specialized groups, while the Center for Legal Innovation and Digital Society (Clinds) promotes innovative research in law and technology.

The overall scope of the faculty extends to prestigious associations, including dual programs with the Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College London, offering students the opportunity to win two degrees of world class institutes in four years.

Promote global legal talent

The international faculty perspective is reflected in its various agencies, representation of some 60 countries and regions. It also sacrifices to students valuable opportunities and resources to collaborate with academics in several fields, deepening their understanding and opening new ways for their work. Faculty experts such as Professor Anatole Boute continue to shape global legal discourse. Professor Boute, specialization in Energy, Environmental and Investment Law, received the prestigious Richard MacRory Award for the best article 2021 of the Journal of Environmental Law, Oxford University Press. His research has proven national evidence of the energy authorities that contributed to a better regulation of the energy market in Central Asia while improving the cost of clean energy supply.
